are there any banjos left in Alabama?

June 21, 2011

wave after shimmering wave,

like heat, like surf

.

clustering forces collecting like clouds,

to ruminate and consider

the most tangential buffeting

.

muttering to self: stay the course.

melt the butter, prepare the eggs, shine the shoes.

dragons fly up the walls, which turn so easily

to sky.

I will catch one and ride,

ride the shimmering waves, ride the sky,

and when safely free I will let out a whoop and a cry

coming from (Alabama) with a (banjo) on my knee
