For FSF

November 26, 2015

there is the point at which the break comes,

where the line folds, and the balance turns,

that is invisible until it is retrospective

light takes no corners,

it will not slow to human speeds

surface cracks deceive:

it’s pressure on either side of the crack,

rather than the crack itself,

that makes the split

a crack can last a long time, even cracked dinner plates
live on as extras for leftovers, or to sit beneath pot plants

a pretty design, or a sentimental resonance

encourages us to find a use

until the day comes for it to succumb –

that point at which the break comes,

where the line folds, and the balance turns
